Urban Garden Center is owned and operated by the Gatanas family. They are third generation garden retailers here in New York City. Aspasia Gatanas, born and raised in East Harlem, is the daughter of the founders of Dimitri’s Garden Center – Dimitri and Calliope Gravanis (Picture on left is of Dimitri Gravanis circa 1959 at his 89th St. & Madison Ave. shop).
